PDO Threading

PDO (Polydioxinone) Threading

Also known as a “lunchtime” facelift

PDO (Polydioxinone) Threading
Use absorbable polydioxanone threads in the skin or subcutaneous fat using a blunt tip cannula. This is a very painless procedure with relatively immediate results, which also induces collagen stimulation. Sutures dissolve in 12-18 months. May take the place of a facelift, but is not a contraindication to a Lunchtime facelift in the future if necessary.

We not only can do thread lifts in the forehead, face, neck, and lips; but even the abdomen, legs, above the knee, and arms.

Just about anywhere that sagging skin exists, we are able to lift through PDO threads, using single threads, screw threads, or by developing a matrix using the threads.

PDO Threading Q&A

Who is PDO Thread Lift for?

The PDO threads are particularly effective for treating the neck and jawline. As the lower face is difficult to treat with Botox and dermal fillers, the threads provide an opportunity to treat this area by lifting and smoothing saggy skin. Body areas such as above the knee, backs of arms, and the buttocks can be treated as well, tightening and smoothing without the use of surgery or general anesthesia.

What should I expect after a PDO Thread Lift?

After the procedure, it is recommend to avoid touching the area that was treated. Discomfort and soreness are common and over the counter Tylenol is recommended for the first few days. Swelling and bruising often occur. Since the procedure is minimally invasive and the manner in which the threads are placed, scarring is not typical, and infection rates are miniscule. Discomfort may continue for a week or two, but this depends on each individual person. The threads dissolve over six months, with collagen production up to a full year. Results of lifting and smoothing are visible on the day of treatment. Optimal results are seen a few months later as new collagen forms, further improving laxity and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Depending on each individual, their health and age, results can last between 1-2 years.

How long do PDO Threads last?

The threads dissolve over six months, and are replaced naturally with collagen. Depending on each individual’s health and age, results can last between 1-2 years.

Will a PDO Thread Lift hurt?

While it is not generally painful, discomfort and soreness are common and over the counter Tylenol is recommended for the first few days.

What is PDO Thread Lift?

PDO threads are an absorbable suture composed of polydixanone. Polydiaxanone (PDO), is a very safe material that is regularly used in heart surgeries. When placed within the appropriate dermal layer, the polydiaxanone stimulates your natural collagen production. These threads come preloaded in hypodermic needles to insert and appropriately place the thread. The threads absorb over a six month time span. During this process the polydiaxanone increases collagenesis for up to a full 12 months.
